Looking for Mentors of Job Readiness Info Session!
QUICK OVERVIEW Chrysalis volunteers facilitate job preparation classes and help individuals facing significant barriers to employment. Not only do volunteers play an integral role in empowering clients to build crucial job search skills, but they also instill the self-esteem needed to succeed in the interview and beyond. We are currently seeking volunteers (bilingual Spanish-speakers, especially) to help provide resume and practice interview assistance. IMPACT Chrysalis is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating a pathway to self-sufficiency for homeless and low-income individuals by providing the resources and support needed to find and retain employment. The men and women who turn to Chrysalis often have multiple barriers to finding employment including homelessness, limited education, criminal records, and substance recovery issues. Since 1984, we have assisted over 71,000 people on the path to self-sufficiency at five centers throughout SoCal where poverty and homelessness are most pervasive: Downtown Los Angeles, Santa Monica, Anaheim, and Pacoima in the San Fernando Valley. VOLUNTEER ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Chrysalis volunteers play an integral role in empowering clients to build specific skills related to the job search process and instilling the self-esteem needed to succeed beyond the interview. There are many ways that volunteers help to support our programs, including: One-on-one resume preparation One-on-one practice interviews One-on-one cover letter preparation and job search assistance Job search readiness class facilitation Class facilitation is currently being conducted online via Zoom. As we open up for more in-person opportunities, we are working towards facilitating in-person classes once again in our downtown office. Volunteers are welcome to work on the classes along with any of the above one-on-one services.
