Project Leaders Wanted! Spring Greening at Rowan Ave Elementary
QUICK OVERVIEW
Lead volunteers through planting greenery, building planter boxes, and painting murals for an elementary school campus in East Los Angeles.
MISSION
L.A. Works and California Volunteers have partnered up for an exciting opportunity for you to make a lasting impact on the Rowan Ave Elementary School community. Join us in our goal to spruce up the school’s campus by building raised planter boxes, planting new greenery, weeding, and much more!
IMPACT
By joining as a Project Leader, you will be providing volunteers and students with hands-on experience that will impact the larger school community for years to come! Your vital role will ensure that students and teachers have access to green space and feel proud of their school community.
PROJECT LEADER VOLUNTEER ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
We are looking for Project Leaders to support in 3 main areas:
- Leading native/drought-tolerant planting in a variety of locations on campus
- Overseeing volunteers building planter boxes (carpentry/wood-working/power-tool skills are a plus)
- Registration of volunteers & snack-table monitoring (great if you need something less physical or labor-intensive)
WHERE: ROWAN AVE ELEMENTARY (600 S Rowan Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90023)
WHEN: SATURDAY, MARCH 25, 2023 (9:00 AM - 1:00 PM)
REQUIREMENTS:
- CHECK IN: Arrive at 8:00 AM for check-in
- ATTIRE: Wear comfortable clothes and close-toed shoes that you can move in and don’t mind getting dirty. We also suggest layering up with long pants and long-sleeve shirts.
- COVID PRECAUTIONS: The event will be outdoors. While not required, we encourage wearing a mask.
- SAFETY PRECAUTIONS: Encourage others to be safe while volunteering
- Must be comfortable with hands-on physical work and comfortable working around children.
- Light breakfast and snacks will be provided.
