Food Bank program

Quick Overview
Help pack and distribute food to families, seniors and individuals experiencing food insecurity.

Since the start of the pandemic, we have seen a 400% increase in the number of people coming to our weekly food bank for help.
 
The demand has maintained as many seniors as possible and others continue to need assistance with food.
 
Impact
You will personally see the people coming for help each week when preparing the bags of food and giving them out to people in need. The event is with the Boys and Girls Club of LA.
 
Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities

• pack food into bags
• count food items and make sure they are distributed equally to each bag
• move bags to distribution area
• hand out bags of food following the check in and distribution system
• assist with signing in recipients as needed or remain inside the gym packing the food (assistance with both is needed)
• assist with set up and tear down as needed

Requirements

• Ability to lift 10 lbs.
• Physically mobile
• Ability to pack and move bags of food, move fold up tables, check off recipients on list, etc.
