Love Your Heart, Love Our Mountains - Planting Day in the Santa Monica Mountains

Celebrate American Heart Month with us and give your heart some love by getting out into the fresh air of the Santa Monica Mountains. This event is hosted in partnership with California Climate Action Corps, a program of California Volunteers, Office of the Governor.

Why: Our partner's goal for this restoration project is to collect local seed and establish a native biodiverse ecosystem in historically ranched areas.
Who: Santa Monica Mountains Fund works to protect and encourage appreciation and understanding of the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. The Fund advances its mission by supporting the National Park Service and California State Parks in areas such as education, scientific research, facility improvements, public engagement, environmental stewardship, and philanthropic initiatives
What to Expect: With heart disease being the lead cause of death in the U.S., come get a workout for a good cause. Our primary task is to plant native species.
What's Required:

• Time/shift commitment: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
• Physical demands: Physical labour and ability to be in the sun for several hours.
• Dress code: Please wear outdoor/garden-appropriate clothing, like long-sleeved shirts, long, loose pants, and sturdy, closed-toe walking shoes with long, thick socks.
• Safety protocols: Make sure to bring a filled water bottle and sun protection (sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, etc.)
• Minor volunteers must have their parent or guardian's signed approval via L.A. Works' Volunteer Project Minor Waiver. Please bring a printed, signed copy with you to the event.
