Support the Dena Community Backpack Giveaway for Eaton Fire Survivor Kids - DCR
Give Eaton Fire youth survivors a head start on the upcoming school year with L.A. Works' Eaton Fire Collaborative partner, Neighborhood Survants.
This is an eligible Daisy Chain Reaction volunteer opportunity. Volunteers who are 18 years of age or older and who opt in during registration for the promotion running between July 22, 2026 at 7:00 AM PST and August 20, 2026 at 7:00 PM PST may participate in a giveaway for a chance to win two (2) GA tickets to Daisy Chain Fields 2026. Participation in the giveaway is completely optional, and you are welcome to volunteer whether or not you choose to enter. See the Official Rules for complete eligibility requirements and terms.
Why: Although rebuilding is blossoming, the majority of surviors continue to endure displacement, have run out of governmental financial assistance, and have taken on debt. These financial and mental burdens hit families and children even harder. 15% of survivor parents have had to cut back on food to support their family's needs. Support these families by giving their kids the school supplies on their wishlists.
Who: Neighborhood Survants empowers youth and community leaders with the tools, resources, and support to become tomorrow’s difference-makers, driving positive change through education, collaboration, and action.

- For the 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM shift:
- Set up giveaway booths
- For the 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM shift:
- Register attendees
- Support backpack giveaway booths
- Guide crowds
- Assist carnival game stalls
- For the 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM shift:
- Register attendees
- Support backpack giveaway booths
- Guide crowds
- Assist carnival game stalls
- For the 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM shift:
- Pack up supplies
- May have to handle trash
What's Required:
- Please wear a clean shirt, comfortable pants, and closed-toe shoes. Avoid ripped or loose clothing, offensive graphics, or open-toe footwear. Long hair should be tied back and no dangling jewelry for safety.
- We are anticipating that it will be very hot. Sunscreen, cold water, snacks, and a break room will be provided. Bring sun protection like hats.
- Bring a collaborative spirit and readiness to pitch in wherever needed.
- Able to lift at least 15 lbs.
- Minor volunteers 16-17 are welcome. All minor volunteers should have a signed L.A. Works' Volunteer Project Minor Waiver. To sign up as a family, please use the "Sign Up With A Team" button below.
