Professional Development
Dovia-LA membership provides benefits such as education, educational tools, resources, and connecting with like-minded people. Whether you're new to the field, a seasoned professional, or anywhere in between, learning from one another's experiences can help with professional and personal development through understanding tried and true as well as innovative approaches to our work.
Networking
Learn Los Angeles area best practices while sharing resources with other members and organizations so you don't have to 'reinvent the wheel.' Sharing knowledge, we can accomplish more for our organizations' missions. DOVIA-LA is also a safe place to be able to discuss the needs, issues, and experiences of volunteer engagement professionals striving to achieve work-life balance. You never know who you might meet or what information and ideas can be exchanged.
Leadership
DOVIA-LA is led by a Board of Directors and committees. Membership includes opportunities to serve on our professional board, a committee, or assist with special projects. Gain experience while enhancing your resume! This is an opportunity for members to boost their leadership skills while having a hand in guiding the organization with member support and input. In addition, serving on the Board includes special benefits and discounts.
Bi-Monthly Meetings
We hold six in-person training meetings each year in a centralized location in Los Angeles. The meetings include workshops and presentations from local experts on topics relevant to our members. These meetings include networking and resource-sharing opportunities as well as a continental breakfast. Meetings are included in the price of membership. Non-members are welcome to attend as guests for $20.
Education Day Conference
Education Day is our biggest event of the year and gathers volunteer engagement professionals and non-profit professionals across Southern California. Education Day features a major speaker from the field of volunteer engagement and includes a full day of workshops curated especially for professionals who work with volunteers. Typically taking place in September, this event is offered at a discounted rate to our members.
Resources
DOVIA-LA membership includes access to our members-only portal which includes member exclusive volunteer engagement resources, educational tools, and our member roster which members utilize to connect with others and resource share outside of our meetings.
