Project Leaders Help Beautify Spaces for Veterans
OVERVIEW: Come Lead volunteers as they mulch, build and paint for Patriot House at the Veteran Affairs Hospital.
IMPACT: Together, we will beautify the Greater Los Angeles Fisher House for the families of veterans that stay at the Fisher House while the veteran receives treatment at the medical facility.
VOLUNTEER ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES: This event will have several projects, including mulching, weeding, building, and gardening the spaces at Patriot House. We will also be assembling/refurbishing tables and planter boxes and more! Volunteers may be asked to stand to work, help lift, shovel, build, and use power tools. Gloves, paint supplies, and tools will be provided for specific projects (bring your own gloves if preferred).
ACCESSIBILITY: We are working to ensure that accommodations can be made for different accessibility needs for as many of the projects as possible. WHEN: FRIDAY November 16, 2023 (7:00 AM - 2:00 PM)
REQUIREMENTS:
- CHECK-IN: Arrive at 7:00 AM for registration and training.
- ATTIRE: Wear comfortable clothes and close-toed shoes that you can move in and don’t mind getting dirty/paint on them. We also suggest layering clothing for sun protection, a hat, and sunscreen.
- COVID PRECAUTIONS: The event will be both indoors and outdoors. While not required, we encourage wearing a mask to support our immunocompromised friends and family.
