Join the Check-In Crew for MLK Day
Take action by joining the Check-In Crew at the MLK Day Volunteer Festival to support our Beloved Community and honor Dr. King’s legacy.
WHY: Service empowers individuals, strengthens communities, bridges barriers, creates solutions, and moves us closer to Dr. King’s vision of a beloved community. It breaks down barriers by bringing people from different backgrounds together and it benefits those who choose to serve. By joining the volunteer check-in crew, you’ll help ensure that more than 1500 Angelenos can successfully come together in service on this day.
WHO: L.A. Works strives to unite Angelenos and inspire action for a more equitable Los Angeles.
WHAT TO EXPECT: Your role will be to welcome the festival participants, check them into the event, and provide them with an overview of where to go/what to expect.
Your efforts on the check-in crew will ensure that the participants at the festival can move freely through the event to:
- Volunteer to address critical issues of food insecurity, homelessness, education equity, and economic opportunity;
- Learn about ways to support and advocate for the community year-round;
- Hear from special speakers; and
- Enjoy food for purchase.
WHAT'S REQUIRED: As a check-in crew member, you’ll be expected to be able to use a computer, tablet, or mobile phone to check in festival participants. If you have a tablet that you can bring to the event, we’d be so grateful but that isn’t required! By signing up below you’ll receive a QR code to use gain access to the site.
BENEFITS OF BEING ON CHECK-IN CREW: You'll be responsible for welcoming festival participants to the event which involves communication, organization, and leadership skills. All of these qualities will stand out on your CV (and help you in life)! PLUS the parking fee will be covered and check-in crew members will be provided lunch and/or snacks, and a free merch.
