Project Leaders: 9/11 Day of Service
Become a Climate Action Hero by helping to beautify the garden at the Frank Hotchkin Memorial Center.
Why: Together, we will beautify the Frank Hotchkin Memorial Training Center for our Los Angeles emergency service heroes.
What to Expect: In general, Project Leaders may be asked to do the following:
- Help unload the L.A. Works van and set up the various activities.
- Lead volunteers as they plant native or drought-tolerant plants.
- Lead volunteers as they remove weeds.
- Lead builds of planter boxes and tables.
- Lead volunteers as they paint indoor rooms.
- Lead volunteers as the build disaster preparedness kits.
- Ensure volunteers are working safely, efficiently, and are having fun!
- All project leaders will receive training the day of. No experience is necessary!
- Water and light snacks will be provided.
- No experience necessary!
- Must be comfortable with hands-on physical work (i.e. cleaning, pulling weeds, shoveling, and digging).
- Adults should be able to lift up to 25 lbs (or ask for other tasks by emailng the Opportunity Leader).
- Wear closed-toe shoes, a hat, long pants, and long-sleeve shirts.
- Gloves and tools will be provided (bring your own gloves if preferred).
