Khalsa Food Pantry - Every Friday

Volunteer with Khalsa Food Pantry and serve families food! 

Why: Khalsa Food Pantry was created to address local food insecurity. We started as a walk up food pantry where we reached out to local school and offered a bag of groceries to all families below the poverty line. We were one of few pantries that stayed open during COVID and transformed our operations from a walk up pantry to a hybrid drive thru/walk up pantry. During COVID we served about 900 families per week. Currently we are serving about 450 families per week. 

Who: Khalsa Food Pantry is located in Pacoima, a neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley. In order to help under-served families in this area, the food pantry was created with a single goal: to help families in need decrease the stress of obtaining groceries and providing food for their loved ones. Since 2013, this operation has been open every Friday providing hundreds of families with fresh produce and dried goods. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we have seen these numbers rise and are now serving 400+ families every Friday. 

• Every Friday (3:30pm to 7pm) we need about 15 to 25 volunteers to help setup, distribute and clean up. We serve an average of 500 families fresh produce, staple food, supplies and resources each week. Come and volunteer with us any Friday! 
• Volunteers are needed to help pack, organize and distribute boxes, bags, and food by loading them into cars.
• No need for confirmation after you register, just show up on a Friday around 3:30pm to start setting up for our weekly distribution.

• Vaccinations for those eligible.
• Should be able to stand and load boxes of about 5 to 25 pounds.
