Spread Cheer! Deliver Holiday Gift Bags to Seniors
Deliver holiday gift bags filled with practical and fun gifts to 250 beach cities seniors and adults with disabilities.
Why: 250 bags will be delivered to isolated older and/or disabled adults living in the South Bay, many of whom are low-income. This is a community endeavor, bringing together residents, first responders and local organizations to ensure a vulnerable population is not forgotten during the holidays.
Who: Beach Cities Health District (BCHD) is a healthcare district focused on preventative health and serves the communities of Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach. Established in 1955 as a public agency, it offers an extensive range of dynamic health and wellness programs, with innovative services and facilities to promote health and prevent diseases across the lifespan.
What to Expect: The holidays can be a difficult and lonely time for isolated older adults and adults with disabilities in our community. However, each holiday season since 1998, friendly volunteers have delivered gift bags filled with practical and fun gifts to 250 beach cities seniors and adults with disabilities in the Beach Cities Health District Care Management program. This year we hope to provide bags with essentials along with support in the form of grocery gift cards. There are two different ways to participate:- Deliver a Gift Bag.
- Individuals, families and groups are invited to volunteer to deliver holiday gift bags to an older adult in the Beach Cities this December. The visits help provide clients with joy, companionship and comfort during the holiday season.
- Decorate a Holiday Card.
- Help bring joy to one of our clients by decorating a non-denominational holiday card that will be included in our holiday gift bags.
- A waiver is required to participate in delivery.
- To deliver bags, children under 14 years old must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
- Anyone under 18 years old must have the waiver signed by a parent.
