Fountain Community Garden Volunteer Day
Join us for a fun-filled day of gardening at FCG!
Why: Fountain Community Gardens (FCG) was founded on June 6, 2009, by the City of Los Angeles to create a beautiful and peaceful oasis in East Hollywood for organic community gardening. FCG provides a diverse, inclusive space for anyone interested in growing their fruits and vegetables.
Who: Our mission is to produce a flourishing, well-managed garden where members can be themselves and feel a sense of community while providing a growing space for vegetables and flowers.
What to Expect: We have volunteer days every second Saturday of the month. Our volunteer days are a great way to give back to the community and connect with fellow green thumbs. Whether you're a seasoned gardener or just starting, everyone is welcome to lend a hand.
From turning our compost piles, and spreading mulch, to weeding and cleaning up boxes, there's always something to do in our garden. You'll also have the chance to chat with other gardening enthusiasts, share tips, and make new friends.
- No prior experience is necessary, as we will provide all the tools and guidance needed. Just bring your enthusiasm, energy, and willingness to get your hands dirty!
- Remember to wear comfortable clothing and shoes suitable for outdoor work. We also recommend bringing sunscreen, a hat, and a water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the day.
As we continue to work on our community garden, we’d love to remind you about the opportunity to bring your food scraps to contribute to our compost! Composting helps us recycle organic waste into nutrient-rich soil, supporting sustainable gardening practices.
Feel free to bring:
• Fruit and vegetable scraps
• Coffee grounds and filters
• Eggshells
• Tea bags
• Yard waste (grass, leaves, etc.)
By bringing your scraps, you’ll help us keep the garden thriving and reduce waste in the process!
