Volunteer Attorney
Volunteer as an Attorney with the L.A LGBT Center and provide much needed legal services and advice to the members of the diverse Los Angeles County community!
Why: As a Volunteer Attorney, you will provide critical legal services and advice to underserved members of the LGBTQ community, helping address issues such as housing, immigration, civil rights, and domestic violence. Your expertise will empower clients to navigate complex legal challenges, fostering recovery, advocacy, and empowerment.
Who: The Los Angeles LGBT Center is an unstoppable force in the fight against bigotry and the struggle to build a better world; a world in which LGBTQ people can be healthy, equal, and complete members of society.
What to Expect:
- Volunteers will offer client consultations, assist with document preparation, and provide occasional pro bono assistance in their area of legal expertise.
- Flexible scheduling is available Monday through Saturday, and services may be conducted remotely via phone or Zoom.
- Volunteers will receive LGBT sensitivity training and work alongside a dedicated team addressing a wide range of legal issues.
What's Required:
- Volunteers must create a Volunteer Resources account on the Los Angeles LGBT Center website and activate it by attending an information session.
- Volunteers must be actively practicing attorneys in good standing with the California State Bar.
- Strong communication skills, a commitment to professionalism, and the ability to work in diverse, multicultural settings are required.
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills are highly valued.
