Inspire Independence-Raise a future service dog puppy!
Volunteer with Canine Companions to help individuals with disabilities find a service dog to assist them in their daily lives
Why: Each hour spent caring for a Canine Companions puppy is vital to its development as a future service dog. The puppy raising program provides a unique opportunity for volunteers to real difference with our very important mission. 1 in 4 people in the U.S. have a disability, so we are looking for more volunteers to help us provide greater independence to people with disabilties.
Who: Canine Companions is leading the service dog industry so our clients and their dogs can live with greater independence. We provide service dogs to adults, children and veterans with disabilities and facility dogs to professionals working in healthcare, criminal justice and educational settings. Since our founding in 1975, our dogs and all follow-up services are provided at no cost to our clients.
What to Expect:

Create a Loving Home: Provide a safe environment for a puppy (the only dog under 12 months in your home).

Learn and Grow: Teach essential puppy manners and skills with our support and resources, including a puppy class!

Stay Connected: Work closely with us to track the puppy’s progress and participate in regular puppy classes.

Ensure Wellness: Provide food, veterinary care and age-appropriate socialization.

Keep Active: Supervise their activities and use a leash. Consider bringing your puppy to work, if permitted.

Celebrate the Journey: Celebrate the incredible journey together, as the puppy returns to our training center and starts professional service dog training.
What's Required:
- All volunteers must complete a volunteer application and onboarding.
- Please note: If you are under the age of 18, you must have a parent or legal guardian fill out the application and you can sign on as a co-applicant.
