Help Spread Wood Chips @ Glassell Park Community Garden!
Come help the Glassell Park Community Garden spread wood chips throughout our garden!
Why: Spreading wood chips will help with water retention after it rains and improve soil health as it breaks down.
Who: The Glassell Park Community Garden aims to foster sustainable urban agriculture and promote environmental stewardship.
What to Expect:
- Volunteers will help garden members spread wood chips throughout the garden. The goal is to spread chips in a thick and even layer in all open areas and among the raised garden beds.
- We'll have coffee and snacks to start, and lunch will be provided around 12:00pm.
What's Required:
- We encourage all volunteers to wear sturdy shoes or boots, a hat or sunscreen, and clothes that you don't mind getting a bit dirty in.
- Masks are encouraged as the wood chips create a lot of dust as they are moved around.
- Please be ready and willing to put in some physical work!
- We'll have gloves and all necessary tools
- Filtered water and bathrooms will be available on site.
- You aren't required to commit to the entire 5 hour event, but we hope you're able to stay for at least an hour or two!
