Wildfire Resource Center Distribution Volunteers

Volunteer your muscles and smile to help individuals and families seeking resources following the wildfires.
Why: Volunteering as a Distribution Volunteermeans that survivors will be able to collect more supplies for their recovery from loss.

Who: L.A. Works is partnering with the Emergency Network of Los Angeles (ENLA), and national, state and local community-based organizations to provide resources and services to wildfire survivors.

What to Expect: 

• Supplies will be distributed during this event and volunteers can help ensure a smooth operation by assisting survivors with supplies and even taking them to their cars for easy transport whenever possible.
• What’s Provided For All Volunteers:
  • Breaks, snacks and a meal
  • Volunteer Nametag (First Name, Initial)
  • Easy parking onsite
  • Possibility of rotating roles if needed

What’s Required:

• Volunteers who don’t mind being mostly outdoors
• Volunteers who can move easily and nimbly around the outdoor space (parking lot)
• Volunteers who can lift and move 20-30lbs of supplies as needed
• Customer Service/Hospitality Focus when interacting with others
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
• Compassion and Patience
• Welcoming and positive attitude
• Able to follow directions
• Arrive on time and stay for the duration of the shift
• Check out with Volunteer Captain before leaving shift

Note: The Wildfire Resource Center is located within the burn area of Pacific Palisades:

• Volunteers should be aware that it may be difficult to see the devastation inside of the burn area and choose whether or not to volunteer in consideration of the location.
• Making a commitment to this role is especially important in this case as we will need to make special arrangements with authorities. Only volunteers who can commit to showing up for their shifts should sign up. 
• Volunteers should plan to spend an extra 15-30 minutes before shift time for navigating checkpoints.
