Shine LA - Beautify a Housing Authority Site in Pacoima
By volunteering for the Shine LA community service day event, you’ll help make Los Angeles shine!
Why: Join the Office of Mayor Karen Bass, community partners, and volunteers from across the city for Service Day LA: Together, LA Shines — a citywide day of service dedicated to cleaning and greening our neighborhoods in honor of Earth Day!
Celebrate Earth Month at the "Our Power, Our Planet" Earth Day event, hosted by Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) and Residents Building Healthy Communities. Volunteer alongside Mayor Bass and your neighbors to make LA shine brighter, and engage in workshops and activities focused on sustainability, environmental justice, and cleaner communities.

Who: Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, HACLA, Pacoima Beautiful, and Pacoima Charter School are the hosts for this event.
What to Expect: Volunteers will take part in clean-up and beautification efforts at San Fernando Valley Gardens (a HACLA housing site), with additional tasks such as gutter cleaning and litter clean up. Expect a lively, community-driven atmosphere filled with opportunities to connect with fellow volunteers and staff while making a positive impact!
What’s Required:-
Time/shift commitment: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Physical demands: Ability to be in the sun for several hours.

Dress code: We recommend that volunteers wear long-sleeved shirts, long, loose pants, and sturdy, close-toed walking shoes. Hats and sunglasses recommended.

Safety protocols: Make sure to bring a filled water bottle and sun protection (sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, etc
