Service Day LA – Together, LA Shines!
In honor of Earth Day, join volunteers from across Los Angeles for 👉 Service Day LA: Together, LA Shines – a citywide effort to clean, green, and beautify neighborhoods throughout our city!
Why: In celebration of Earth Day, Service Day LA: Together, LA Shines mobilizes volunteers citywide to clean, green, and beautify neighborhoods across Los Angeles. Your efforts will help reduce waste, enhance public spaces, and build community pride—creating a cleaner, greener LA for all.
Who: L.A. Family Housing (LAFH) works to help families transition out of homelessness and poverty through a continuum of housing enriched with supportive services. Founded in 1983, LAFH served more than 2,500 people living in poverty this past year through its multiple housing and supportive service programs, and has served over 100,000 people since its inception. In total LAFH owns and operates 21 properties, including three homeless shelters and 18 permanent rental properties.
What to Expect: Volunteers will support a range of outdoor beautification efforts, potentially including:
- Picking up litter
- Weeding and gardening
- Planting trees or shrubs
- Light painting and beautification projects
- Sorting recyclables
- All tools and supplies provided
What's Required:

Dress: Closed-toe shoes, clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, sun protection

Bring: Reusable water bottle

Arrival: Please arrive 10–15 mins early for check-in
