ReBuild LA Wildfire Relief Distribution for 500 Families
Volunteer with your strength to provide essential resources to 500 households affected by the wildfires.
Why: In response to the devastating fires, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (HabitatLA) and San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity (SGV Habitat) are working together to support those affected by organizing a distribution drive to provide essential resources to vetted wildfire survivors.
Who: HabitatLA and SGV Habitat put God's love into action, bringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope, envisioning a world where every person has a decent place to live.
What to Expect: There are two days of volunteer opportunities with different shifts; one on May 14th at the warehouse in Compton to prep and then the big day on May 16th at a large site in Inglewood. There are a variety of roles for volunteers to fill.- Assist with event prep and staging
- Assist with traffic control & cheer stations
- Assist staff with intake forms
- Help load donations into vehicles. Note boxes will be heavy
- Greet survivors at the entrance and help verify invites
- Other tasks based on shift
- Be able to bend down and lift up to 25 lbs
- Volunteers must be 16+ (minors must provide a signed liability waiver and be accompanied by a parent or chaperone)
- Closed-toe shoes and clothes you don't mind getting dirty. Ensure that your clothing is suitable for walking, bending, and lifting
