FAVE June 2025 Event: Making Self-Care Kits
*This project is part of Families Active in Volunteer Enrichment - FAVE. This volunteer activity is for families volunteering together. Youth must attend with a parent/guardian.
**If you cannot make it to this event on the June 14th date, you can order a kit. You and your family can complete the project on your own time! No due dates, no stress! We will receive your complete kits and donate them to our non-profit partner! Simply order a kit from our FAVE page: www.laworks.com/fave
Why: Mental health starts with practical tools that everyone can use to improve their mental health and increase their resiliency regardless of their personal situation. We will come together to design and assemble self-care kits with items designed to inspire recipients to take time to care for themselves and to help with their heal through intentionality and a clear message of community support.
Who: Our nonprofit partner, Five Acres, provides services to children and families to promote safety, well-being, and permanency including behavioral health services, counseling, skill building, and therapy for children and youth. Five Acres offers programs to help prevent child abuse and neglect, including domestic violence support groups, healthy relationship teen groups, and social skills groups. They also provide respite care, which allows one family to support another family for a short time.
What to Expect:
- Design canvas bags with encouraging message
- Fill bags with self-care essentials
- Write a note of encouragement

- Positive attitude for a fun morning of family volunteering!
