Grant Writing Mentor
Volunteer as a Grant Writer Mentor for the Thaddeus Resource Center to help guide and support our grant writing staff and interns.
Why: As a mentor, you will provide guidance on best practices within Thaddeus Resource Center and support interns in their professional development. By fostering professional growth, strategic thinking, and effective communication, you will contribute to our mission of restoring hope and expanding our funding opportunities.
Who: The Thaddeus Resource Center is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to RESTORE HOPE, INSPIRE GROWTH, and EMPOWER GIRLS & WOMEN through housing, mental health services, education, life skill development, workforce training, and other supportive services.

Mentor up to 5 grant writing interns, providing guidance on best practices and professional growth and monitoring their progress in skill development.

Assist mentees in researching funding opportunities, proposal writing, and grant submission processes.

Provide constructive feedback and training on grant writing techniques and strategy.

Ensure interns are staying on track with deadlines and responsibilities.

Oversee and assist interns in various development and operations of the grant writing process, including but not limited to:

Researching and identifying potential grant and contract funders.

Writing and submitting compelling grant proposals.

Ensuring compliance with grant requirements and reporting obligations.

Develop and manage training materials, templates, and resources for the grant writing team.

Collaborate with internal teams to gather necessary program data, impact metrics, and financials for proposals.

Track and manage grant application deadlines and deliverables.

Background in grant writing, nonprofit development, fundraising, or related fields.

Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Nonprofit Management, Business, or a related field.

Minimum of two years of experience in grant writing with a proven track record of securing funding.

Experience mentoring, training, or coaching writers, interns, or junior staff (preferred).

Strong research and analytical skills to identify funding opportunities and align proposals with organizational goals.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Volunteer must have the appropriate technology, internet connection, and ability to function in a virtual capacity via Microsoft Teams.

5 hrs./week, including mandatory meetings, with flexible scheduling

1-year minimum commitment

Must be available for the following VIRTUAL weekly meetings:

All-Staff Meeting: Tuesdays 9 AM - 10 AM PST

Development Department Meetings: Thursdays 1 PM - 2 PM PST
