Garden Beautification Day at Arroyo Farm Lab
Join Eco Urban Gardens in preparing their garden beds for the school year. No gardening experience required!
Why: These volunteer day efforts help establish urban agricultural learning hubs in underserved communities. The learning hubs introduce youth and the community to urban agriculture, environmental sciences, and nutrition to improve physical and mental wellness. Volunteers are welcome to not only participate in the efforts but also partake in workshops and events.
Who: Eco Urban Gardens aims to combat food insecurity through urban agriculture and regenerative living.
What to Expect: Support the Arroyo Farm Lab in its final stages of construction. Training and guidance will be provided by the site manager. Garden tools (ex. Gloves, shovels,etc.) will also be available for volunteers. The day will conclude with a community harvest. Tasks will include:
- Invasive Species
- Removal
- Debris Clean-up
- Mulching
- Signage Painting and Installation (Language inclusive signage in Chinese/Vietnamese/Spanish)
What's Required: For a safe and more comfortable work experience, we ask volunteers to bring the following:
- Breathable Clothing for Outdoor/Garden Work
- Closed-toed Shoes
- Water Bottle
- Light Snack
- Hat
- Volunteers under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
