2025 LA Fires - Eaton & Palisades - Outreach Calls - Survivor Assessments
Volunteer with L.A. Works to support wildfire victims and help them get back on their feet!
Why: Volunteering in this role will help us meet the primary goal of checking in with survivors and gather any needed information that will help groups working with survivors through legitimate Disaster Case Management/ Disaster Navigation.
Who: L.A. Works is partnering with Los Angeles Region Community Recovery Organization (LARCRO) and UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) need volunteers to make Survivor Outreach Calls by coordinating multiple VOAD partner groups active in responding to the 2025 LA Fires.
What to Expect:
- Volunteers will participate in a 2 hour virtual training. Please register as soon as possible so we can plan the training date and set expectations with survivors and partners who are excited for these calls to commence.
- After training, volunteers will be given a list of calls to make.
- These calls primarily involve gathering updates on how survivors' cases are progressing. In some instances, volunteers may be asked for assistance or specific resources. Volunteers should feel comfortable referencing a resource list and directing callers to the appropriate support services.
What's Required:
- Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.
- All volunteers are required to attend a scheduled two-hour virtual training session to prepare for their role.
- We ask that volunteers dedicate their time to completing the call list within thirty days of being provided their list.
