Be a Force for Good This 9/11 Day: Support Staff Volunteers Needed
Honor the legacy of 9/11 by helping pack meals for neighbors in need across Los Angeles.
Why: In Los Angeles, 1,150 volunteers will come together at Frank Hotchkin Memorial Training Center to pack 402,500 meals for people experiencing food insecurity in the local community. The meals will be donated to Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. Nationwide, more than 30,000 volunteers will pack 9 million meals for those at risk of hunger in America.
Who: Our mission is to inspire millions of Americans and others to rekindle the remarkable spirit of unity and compassion that arose in the immediate aftermath of 9/11, and to perform good deeds and other acts of service in tribute to the 9/11 victims, survivors, first responders, and members of our military who bravely rose in service in response to the attacks.
What to Expect:- Table Captains
- Take the lead on one or two assembly lines. You’ll guide teams of Meal Pack volunteers, provide training, answer questions, and help keep energy and morale high throughout the event.
- Runners / Heavy Lifters
- Be the behind-the-scenes force that keeps everything flowing! You’ll restock stations and move supplies. This role requires the ability to lift and carry 50 lbs repeatedly for about 90 minutes.
- Guest Services Teams
- As a member of the Guest Services Teams, you will play a key role in welcoming, checking in, directing and assisting volunteers as they arrive at the event, answering questions and troubleshooting challenges.
- Set-up & Breakdown Crew
- Help transform the event space before guests arrive—or stay afterward to clean up and pack out.
- Shift Opportunities
- Wednesday, 9/10: 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM (Set Up)
- Thursday, 9/11:
8:30 AM - 12:30 PM (Shift 1)
12:00 PM - 4:00 PM (Shift 2)
8:30 AM - 4:00 PM (All Day Shift)
- One-hour training session via Zoom, scheduled a week before the event.
- Approximately 4 hours served on the day of the event. Shift times may vary.
