Barnsdall Art Park Community Clean Up Day
Join the Barnsdall Art Park Foundation at monthly community clean up days on the first Sunday of each month, 9-11am!
Why: Beyond beautification, these community clean up events are also a fire safety mission! Barnsdall boasts a beautiful pine grove - but we need our neighbors' help to rake up dried pine needles and keep the park safe. We hope these monthly volunteer events will increase engagement, support, and love for this local gem of a park!
Who: The Barnsdall Art Park Foundation, established in 2003 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in support of the City of Los Angeles’s comprehensive landscape, infrastructure, and program initiatives in Barnsdall Art Park. The mission is to ensure that Barnsdall Art Park is a vibrant, inclusive space for creativity, cultural expression, civic conversation, and social empowerment.
What to Expect: Community members volunteer to help clean up and sustain the park through trash pick up and light yard work. Work will occur in the park's greenspaces that surround the City cultural institutions within the park including Hollyhock House, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and LA's only UNESCO World Heritage site; the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery; the Barnsdall Arts Center and Barnsdall Junior Arts Center; and the Barnsdall Gallery Theatre, as well as the historic pine grove and olive grove.
