Red Cross - Home Fire Campaign Team Member
Help support the Regional Disaster Cycle Services department of the Red Cross by promoting fire safety!
Why: The Home Fire Campaign helps save lives by installing free smoke alarms in homes that don't have them, and by educating people about home fire safety. With your participation, we have the opportunity to make a difference in our communities and save lives tragically lost due to home fires.
Who: The American Red Cross, a humanitarian organization led by volunteers, guided by its Congressional Charter and the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross Movement, will provide relief to victims of disasters and helps people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.
What to Expect: The purpose of this position is to implement Home Fire Campaign programming. You will:- Support the annual preparedness goals, Regional Disaster Officer (RDO) objectives, and regional/chapter plan for preparedness programming through participation in meetings, projects, and local preparedness activities;
- Execute assigned projects and local preparedness activities according to the Home Fire Campaign activities (canvassing, fire prevention and safety education, smoke alarm installation, documentation, etc.) you are trained to do.
- Complete tasks such as implementing preparedness activities, meeting with partners to build relationships, conducting inventory, and procuring or receiving necessary preparedness supplies.
- Volunteers must be at 16 years or older
- Comfortable walking long distances
- Comfortable speaking with others
- Depending on the local situation, work may be done virtually or in-person
