Support an Edible School Garden- World Soil Week

Join a week of events (Dec 3rd - Dec 7th) celebrating World Soil Day — honoring the living ground that connects all our hands-on work in urban greening, wildfire resilience, and food waste reduction. Support an edible school garden with Eco Urban Gardens by helping plant nitrogen-fixing fruit trees, mulch to improve soil health, and remove harmful landscaping fabric to restore soil nutrients. Support an Edible School Garden - World Soil Day is hosted in partnership with California Climate Action Corps, a program of California Volunteers, Office of the Governor.
Why: These volunteer day efforts help establish urban agricultural learning hubs in underserved communities. The learning hubs introduce youth and the community to urban agriculture, environmental sciences, and nutrition to improve physical and mental wellness.
Who: Eco Urban Farms combats food insecurity through urban agriculture and regenerative living.
What to Expect: Training, guidance, and garden tools (ex. gloves, shovels, etc.) will be provided. The day will conclude with a community harvest. Tasks will include:
- Planting Fruit Trees
- Mulching
- Invasive Plant Species Removal
- Breathable Clothing for Outdoor/Garden Work
- Closed-toed Shoes
- Water Bottle
- Light Snack
- Hat
- Volunteers under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult
