Protect an Altadena Foothill Nature Preserve
Come improve the wildfire resiliency of this crucial foothill preserve in Altadena. No gardening experience required!
Why: These restoration workdays ensure that high fire risk invasive plant species are controlled and the surrounding communities are kept safe.
Who: Our partner, The Arroyos & Foothills Conservancy, preserves land and restores habitat in and around the San Gabriel and Crescenta Valleys before they are developed and gone. They protect natural areas for birds and wildlife while providing access and educational experiences for the community.
What to Expect: This event is a hands-on grounds maintenance day so be prepared to sweat and get your hands dirty. Volunteers will help The Arroyos & Foothills Conservancy with tasks like:- Laying Mulch
- Invasive Species Control
- Time commitment: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
- Physical demands: Ability to be in the sun for several hours.
- Dress code: We recommend that volunteers wear outdoor/garden-appropriate clothing, including sunglasses, long-sleeved shirts, long, loose pants, and sturdy, close-toed walking shoes with long socks.
- Safety protocols: Make sure to bring a filled water bottle and sun protection (sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, etc.)
