Dinner in the Park
Help Union Station Homeless Services provide Thanksgiving meals to families and individuals experiencing homelessness and food insecurity. Help make an impact this Thanksgiving season and consider volunteering your time!
Why: For over 50 years, everyone at Union Station Homeless Services has celebrated Thanksgiving with those in need. Dinner in the Park is a beloved holiday tradition that brings the community together over a warm meal. Last year, Union Station Homeless Services served over 6,000 Thanksgiving meals to families and individuals experiencing homelessness and food insecurity.
Who: Union Station Homeless Services recognizes the inherent value, dignity, and humanity of the people we serve. Together, with them, we work to end homelessness through housing solutions, supportive services, and connection to community. We advocate for equitable and just systems that ensure all individuals and families will have a safe place they can call home.
What to Expect: Whether you are lending a hand in the kitchen, preparing turkeys, assembling food boxes, or delivering food to vehicles, we can use your help! We will have a variety of volunteer opportunities from November 17th through November 28th. Volunteers will assist with a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:- Plating Thanksgiving meals
- Seating community members
- Running plates and drinks
- Reheating meals
- Packing to-go meals
- And much more!
- Must complete an online registration form
- Must electronically acknowledge our USHS liability waiver
- Must complete an online orientation
- These forms will be in the link in your confirmation email
- Dress code: long pants, closed-toed shoes, and a t-shirt that you are comfortable getting dirty.

Age requirement: all volunteers must be at least 13 years old with a chaperone and at least 16 years old to volunteer without on
