Empower Futures with Chrysalis in San Fernando Valley!

This location is for the San Fernando Valley location. We are seeking volunteers who are highly motivated by Chrysalis’ mission and desire to improve the social and economic fabric of our community.

Why: In 2024, Chrysalis volunteers and staff helped nearly 1,940 clients secure employment in the broader workforce — and volunteers were instrumental in providing thousands of practice interviews, resumes, and job-readiness services, increasing opportunity for those in need. By volunteering in these roles, you’ll provide clients with invaluable tools and skills to successfully pursue employment and achieve long-term self-sufficiency. Your time and dedication will make a lasting impact!

What To Expect:
1. Build Resumes – Empower Job Seekers!
✅ Work one-on-one with clients to create or improve their resumes.
✅ Help clients identify their strengths, skills, and past experiences to effectively showcase their qualifications.
✅ Guide clients in tailoring their resumes to align with specific job opportunities.
✅ Provide tips on resume formatting, clear language, and keyword optimization to improve employer visibility.
✅ Encourage clients by recognizing their achievements and boosting their confidence throughout the process.

2. Provide Practice Interviews – Boost Confidence!
✅ Conduct mock interviews with clients to help them prepare for real-life interview scenarios.
✅ Ask common interview questions and provide constructive feedback on responses, body language, and communication style.
✅ Share strategies for answering challenging questions, highlighting transferable skills, and building rapport with interviewers.
✅ Offer positive reinforcement to help clients gain confidence and feel prepared for job opportunities.

3. Assist with Online Job Applications & Cover Letters – Open Doors to New Careers!
✅ Guide clients through the process of completing online job applications.
✅ Support clients in crafting clear, compelling cover letters tailored to specific roles.
✅ Offer tips for identifying key job requirements and customizing application materials accordingly.
✅ Help clients navigate common online application platforms and understand submission best practices.

• Attend a volunteer information/training session
• Sign Agreement forms 
• complete shadowing of service with staff before being shadowed  
• Patience and empathy to support clients of diverse backgrounds and skill levels.
• Strong communication skills to provide clear guidance and constructive feedback.
• Adaptability to meet clients where they are in their job search journey.
• Encouragement and positivity to empower clients as they build their confidence.
