Drive cancer patients to and from treatment - Volunteer Driver Road To Recovery
Volunteer drivers are needed for the Road To Recovery program. For those who cannot drive themselves or have no other means of getting to cancer-related medical appointments, volunteers donate their time to give patients a much-needed ride.
Why: Right now, one of the biggest barriers to cancer care is transportation. Because, even the best treatment can’t work if a patient can’t get there. Family and friends may help, but over the course of several months, they may not always have the time or resources to provide every ride. That’s why a successful transportation assistance program can be a tremendous asset to the community, and an inspiration to a volunteer. Our volunteers have provided hundreds of thousands of rides for patients, but the need for drivers continues to accelerate.
Who: The American Cancer Society is the nationwide community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service.
