Community Work Day Event at Howard Finn Community Garden
Why: Contribute to maintaining a garden in an urban area that nurtures the residents and organizations of Sunland-Tujunga area at Howard Finn Community Garden. Help support a vital green spaces that offers fresh produce, community building, and cultural expression. The garden features community events, such as planting days, and focus on sustainability.
Who: Los Angeles Community Garden Council strengthens communities by building and supporting community gardens where every person in Los Angeles County can grow healthy food in their neighborhood.
What to Expect:- Clean up
- Weeding
- Garden bed restoration
- All around garden maintenance that will get your hands dirty
- We will provide tools, snacks and water
- Volunteers will help us with maintenance and restoration projects for about 2.5 hours
- Physical demands: Ability to be in the sun and perform light physical activity for several hours
- All Volunteers will receive safety training and garden tools (ex. gloves, hand-tools, etc.) to complete projects
- Dress code: We recommend that volunteers wear comfortable outdoor/garden-appropriate clothing that can get dirty and closed toed shoes
- Safety protocols: Please bring a filled water bottle and sun protection (sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, etc)
- A positive attitude and readiness to work outdoors.
