Revitalize Fremont Community Garden for Earth Month
Join the Los Angeles Neighborhood Land Trust for a day of community support at a local green space and food and educational hub in South Los Angeles.
Why: The Fremont Community Garden serves as a hub for urban agriculture education, food waste recycling and fresh produce access. Volunteers help maintain the garden by caring for shared spaces, supporting the garden’s role as a community space for residents and students from John C. Fremont High School.
Who: The Los Angeles Neighborhood Land Trust was formed in 2002 in response to a report documenting the shortage of green and recreational spaces in the city’s underserved neighborhoods. Since then, the Neighborhood Land Trust has played an important role in the creation, renovation and opening of nine parks and gardens, seven of which are managed and programmed by the Neighborhood Land Trust and local community management committees.
What to Expect: We will be supporting the upkeep of shared spaces through:- Mulching
- Path Weeding
- Planting in community garden beds
- Repainting of shared tables
- Tools and supplies will be provided.
- Bring a refillable water bottle and wear sun protection (sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, etc.)
- Please wear comfortable clothes you don’t mind moving around in and getting dirty and closed-toed shoes
- You don’t need a green thumb – just a willing attitude!
