Volunteer at the California Science Fair

Help make the 75th Annual California Science & Engineering Fair possible at California Lutheran University on April 11–12, 2026. Student researchers travel from across California to participate after qualifying through their regional science fairs, making them some of the state’s top young scientists and engineers.

Why: By volunteering at CSEF, you help create a welcoming, organized, and inspiring experience for student researchers from across California. Your time supports the next generation of scientists and engineers by helping one of the state’s premier student STEM events run smoothly.

Who: California Science and Engineering Fair mission is to inspire and empower the next generation of innovators, problem solvers, and leaders in the fields of science and engineering. Committed to fostering a culture of curiosity and discovery, we strive to provide a platform that encourages students across the state to explore, experiment, and present their innovative ideas.

• Volunteers help create a welcoming, organized, and inspiring experience for student researchers, families, judges, and guests throughout the California Science & Engineering Fair.
• Depending on the shift, volunteers may assist with check-in, wayfinding, guest flow, event logistics, general fair support, and other day-of needs.
• Volunteers should expect a busy, high-energy event environment with some interaction with parents, students and judges.
• Water and snacks will be available throughout the weekend.
• A continental breakfast will be available for the early Sunday shift, and lunch will be available for volunteers who are on campus around 12:30 PM on Sunday.
• Volunteers may sign up for one or more shifts.
• The fair will be at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks.

• Dependable and punctual
• Comfortable supporting a busy public event
• Able to stand or walk for extended periods, depending on the role. 
• Willing to assist in high-traffic areas and help direct participants and guests
• Able to lift light materials, if needed
• Comfortable clothing and shoes are recommended
