Become a Coach to Children with Disabilities!
Come volunteer with KEEN LA and make an impact in a child's life! We have sessions all over East Los Angeles on the weekend.
Why: Volunteering with KEEN means creating accessibility and equal opportunity in sports. Volunteers will directly impact our mission to support youth health and mental well-being at no cost to their families.
Who: KEEN L.A. is a nonprofit volunteer-led organization that provides one-to-one recreational opportunities for children and young adults with mental and physical disabilities. KEEN L.A.’s mission is to foster the self-esteem, confidence, skills and talents of its athletes through non-competitive activities, allowing young people facing even the most significant challenges to meet their individual goals.
What to Expect:- When you first arrive at a session, you will be checked in and assigned your athlete.
- You will then be introduced to our Lead Coach, who will walk you through the structure of our sessions.
- KEEN is unique from other sports programs; our sessions are non-competitive, so our kids run drills and warm-up exercises.
- Once the session is done, we do a quick clean-up of the space, and everyone is free to go.
- We provide water and snacks as well, so you are free to take some or bring your own!
- Must attend a Zoom orientation
- Must complete a background check for volunteers 18
- Must commit to at least 2 sessions per month (each session is 2 hours)
- No previous volunteer or sports experience required!
