Stop Food Waste: Grocery Distribution - DCR
Since our establishment in 2013, FEAST has been dedicated to promoting health and wellness through the power of nutritious food, education, and community support. Our impact extends beyond individual transformations, creating a ripple effect that fosters community wellness and inspires healthy living.
This is an eligible Daisy Chain Reaction volunteer opportunity. Volunteers who are 18 years of age or older and who opt in during registration for the promotion running between July 22, 2026 at 7:00 AM PST and August 20, 2026 at 7:00 PM PST may participate in a giveaway for a chance to win two (2) GA tickets to Daisy Chain Fields 2026. Participation in the giveaway is completely optional, and you are welcome to volunteer whether or not you choose to enter. See the Official Rules for complete eligibility requirements and terms.
Why: FEAST’s Food Access Program, launched in March 2020, recovers high quality farm-fresh produce in partnership with Food Forward and Seeds of Hope to distribute to our participants.
Who: FEAST is a community health organization working at the intersection of food insecurity, social isolation, and chronic disease. We address all three together — because they are interrelated, systemic conditions, and improving health requires intervening in all of them.
What to Expect: Every Wednesday, we package over 70 bags of groceries at our location at 2800 Stanford Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90011 (Stanford & 28th), in South Central from 9:30am - 12pm. Our volunteers are vital to the success of our Food Access program. They support by receiving, sorting, and packaging recovered food for our FEAST participants.Volunteer tasks include:
- Packaging produce
- Lifting up to 50lbs of recovered food (if able)
- Setup and breakdown of space
- Sweeping, mopping, breaking down boxes
- Cleaning tables
- Sorting through recovered produce
- Composting inedible food
- The volunteer opportunity runs from 9:30 am-12:00 pm every Wednesday.
- We recommend volunteers wear comfortable clothing and closed toed shoes, and bring water.
