Support a Future Local Food and Education Garden
Join Edible Origins for a hands-on volunteer day at the Arroyo Farm Lab and help grow the future of our local food hub and education garden! Spend a rewarding early fall morning outdoors supporting community garden projects, including planting, plant care, invasive species removal, habitat improvement, and more.
Why: Arroyo Farm Lab will serve as a future food hub and educational garden for both students and the wider community, with the goal of empowering people to grow food and build a deeper connection to their food and the land, regardless of experience level. The Farm Lab will also host recreational gardening and wellness events, providing a space for learning, healing, and community connection. Every volunteer day and act of service plays an important role in supporting the Farm Lab's projects, long-term sustainabilityand lasint impact.
Who: Edible Origins has the mission of enriching urban communities through urban agricultural education and recreation.
What to Expect: Volunteers on Sept 19th will help restore parts of the garden for future cultivation. All tasks will be assigned based on volunteer interest/comfort level. Volunteers will be trained and led by site manager and garden team. Tasks can include, but is not limited to:
- Invasive species removal
- Mosaic Art Projects
- Pathway restoration
- Pruning
- Mulching
What's Required: For a more comfortable and smooth volunteer experience, volunteers will be required to wear and bring the following:
- Closed-pointed shoes (no sandals/flip-flops)
- Long pants & sleeves (sun plant protection)
- Sun protection (ex. hat & sunblock)
- Water Bottle Light Snack
