DOVIA-LA March Meeting: At The Huntington

Join DOVIA-LA in March for a special meeting at The Huntington!

Hosted By: DOVIA-LA (Directors of Volunteers in Agencies – Los Angeles) is a professional membership association for individuals who lead, manage, and recruit volunteers for a diverse range of nonprofit organizations. DOVIA-LA members meet bi-monthly to network, build skills, and learn about current issues in the field of volunteer management. DOVIA-LA is a program of L.A. Works.

• Our March meeting will begin with a volunteer program-focused tour of The Huntington Museum & Libraries by Brandi Shawn-Chaparro, Senior Manager of Volunteer Programs and DOVIA-LA Advisory Committee Member.
• Following the tour, attendees will be led through "Leadership Lab: Addressing Root Causes to Challenges in the Overall Volunteer Engagement Strategy" by Megan Vixie, Chief Engagement Officer at Beach Cities Health Districit and DOVIA-LA Advisory Committee Member.
• This meeting will be offered IN-PERSON ONLY. DOVIA-LA is committed to offering the best possible experience to our members, and we produce our meetings in a hybrid format, with this being a special exception.
• During this meeting, volunteer engagement professionals will have opportunities to engage with one another in group discussions and we will take time for community support and to hear from members looking to learn about experience with an issue or resource need. 

• Brandi Shawn-Chaparro has over 10 years of progressive experience in volunteer management and is now the Senior Manager, Volunteer Programs at The Huntington where she manages the 1000+ volunteers and volunteer office staff team across 200+ acres of museum, library, and gardens.
• Megan Vixie, CVA, is a respected and collaborative executive coach with 15+ years of leadership experience utilizing human resource strategy to execute the strategic direction of organizations. She currently serves as the Chief Engagement Officer for Beach Cities Health District. As an executive coach, she specializes in career planning and leadership development for the emerging leader.

• Location: The event will take place IN PERSON
• In Person Meeting Location: The Huntington, 1151 Oxford Road, San Marino, CA 91108.
  • In-person attendees will have access to the beautiful Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Gardens.
• Breakdown of Events:
  • 1:00-2:00pm: Tour of The Huntington lead by Brandi Shawn-Chaparro, Senior Manager of Volunteer Programs.
  • 2:00-3:00pm: Leadership Lab presented by Megan Vixie
  • Members are welcome to arrive at The Huntington beginning at 11am to enjoy access to the exhibits and grab lunch at one of the cafes available. Workspace will also be available.

  • DOVIA-LA Meetings are free for members.
  • You do not need to be a DOVIA-LA member to attend this meeting.
