In-Store Hospitality Volunteer
NCJW|LA is currently looking for volunteers to work in our Fairfax Council Shop thrift store on Mondays–Thursdays, 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.
This is an eligible Daisy Chain Reaction volunteer opportunity. Volunteers who are 18 years of age or older and who opt in during registration for the promotion running between July 22, 2026 at 7:00 AM PST and August 20, 2026 at 7:00 PM PST may participate in a giveaway for a chance to win two (2) GA tickets to Daisy Chain Fields 2026. Participation in the giveaway is completely optional, and you are welcome to volunteer whether or not you choose to enter. See the Official Rules for complete eligibility requirements and terms.
Why: NCJW|LA owns and operate seven thrift stores throughout the Los Angeles area called The Council Shops. Our stores provide jobs and job training, and all of the profits go right back into funding our community assistance programs. Volunteers help us to build our store capacity and support our staff, which ensures the continuation of our community assistance programs.
Who: NCJW|LA ensures economic justice and equity for women in Los Angeles through direct cash assistance, skill building, and advocating for policies that safeguard women’s financial stability and prosperity. We work in community with women to create a Los Angeles wherein all women succeed financially, physically, socially, and emotionally. We believe when women achieve financial independence and stability, we will disrupt systems that perpetuate poverty and build a Los Angeles where everyone thrives.
What to Expect: Volunteers will help with a variety of tasks including:- Welcoming and assisting customers
- Organizing merchandise
- Sorting donated goods
- As a volunteer you will be provided a volunteer lanyard and simple snack will be available.
- You may bring addidtional snacks or small lunch, there will have a 15 min break in the middle of their shift.
- Must be 18 years or older
- Able to stand for extended periods of time
- Able to stay for the full shift unless they've communicated otherwise with the store manager
- Wear closed-toe shoes
- Complete a volunteer liability waiver before your first shift
- Our vounteer manager, Allison Davalos, will be there to meet you and do a quick orientation and training
