Neighbors Helping Neighbors Yard Clearing for 9/11 Day
September 11th is a National Day of Service and Remembrance as we honor those who lost their lives in the attack against our country in 2001 and pay tribute to the thousands of heroes who rose in service. Come get your hands dirty with L.A. Works at this Day of Service event and support our local Eaton Fire Survivors in Altadena.
Why: Many Altadena residents are still navigating the long road to recovery yet now face potential county citations for overgrown brush on their burned lots. Every yard cleared is a step toward restoring stability in Altadena—supporting neighbors through compliance, safety, and a tangible path forward after devastating loss and financial burden.
What to Expect:
What to Expect:
- Volunteers will assist with:
- Weed and brush removal
- Light yard debris clearing
- General outdoor clean-up to reduce fire risk
What's Required:
- Stand for long periods of time
- Comfortable with being outdoors
- ATTIRE: Wear comfortable clothes and close-toed shoes that you can move in and don’t mind getting dirty. We also suggest layering clothing for sun protection, a hat, and sunscreen.
This volunteer opportunity is part of L.A. Works' 9/11 Day of Service & Remembrance week, presented in partnership with 9/11 Day and AmeriCorps. By participating, you'll join volunteers across Los Angeles in observance of the 9/11 anniversary through meaningful acts of service that strengthen our communities and support those in need.
