Winterfest at Cal Vets
Make gifts and visit veterans! Spread cheer by making cocoa, gifts, and cards while visiting with residents housed at CalVets.
Who:
CalVet has a residential program that offers affordable long-term care to aged and disabled veterans as well as their eligible spouses and domestic partners. Honoring these non-profit partners reminds us that while Veterans’ Day is in November, veterans’ issues are ongoing and deserve attention all year. We will meet in person on Saturday, December 9th for this outdoor event to put together cocoa kits with mugs, make scarves and key chains, and visit with the veterans who live at CalVets. It was a great event for all of those who participated last year, and the vets cannot wait for us to return!
Why:
Veterans look forward to the companionship and fun that FAVE families bring to their winter events. Families truly bring holiday cheer to Cal Vets!
What to expect:
Make gifts and cards. Visit with veterans Help veterans make cards and gifts. Help serve coffee, tea, and cocoa to veterans.
What's Required:
- Dress comfortably and in layers based on the weather forecast as this is an outdoor event
- Some standing is required, no heavy lifting, and tasks suitable for all ages
- Age requirement: All ages; this is a family volunteering event
- This is a FAVE Fam event. You must be registered as a FAVE Fam member to participate. Registration for FAVE HERE.
- Face mask may be required
