Project Leaders Needed in Pasadena for Earth Day 4/22
QUICK OVERVIEW
This Earth Day, become a Climate Action Hero by leading a variety of greening and beautifying projects throughout Pasadena.
MISSION
In partnership with California Climate Action Corps, a program of California Volunteers (Office of the Governor), L.A. Works is on a mission to amplify environmental justice initiatives supporting the communities most impacted by climate change.
IMPACT
By leading other volunteers on Earth Day, you will ensure that green spaces are restored throughout the district, benefitting students, pollinators, and the larger community. By choosing to become a Project Leader, you can double our impact because you're enabling more work to be done on the day!
VOLUNTEER ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
No experience is necessary, we just ask that you join us a little earlier than other volunteers to ensure that you understand the project and can assist volunteers as they begin their work.
- Leading 10-20 volunteers through garden-based projects.
- Must be comfortable with hands-on physical work (i.e. cleaning, pulling weeds, shoveling, building, and planting) and comfortable working around children.
- Physical demands: Able to lift up to 25 lbs (if not, we will have other things to do for you so please email the Opportunity Coordinator for any questions/accommodations).
- Attire: Wear closed-toe shoes, a hat, long pants, and long-sleeve shirts. Gloves and tools will be provided (bring your own gloves if preferred).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Water and light snacks will be provided.
- Your specific site will be allocated a week in advance. The school locations are, Pasadena High School, John Muir High School Early College Magnet, Butler Middle School, Eliot ARTS Magnet, and Washington Elementary STEM Magnet School.
