FAVE Family Volunteering: Spruce up a school garden!
QUICK OVERVIEW:
This Earth Day, FAVE will be on site at a school site in Pasadena to weed and beautify an existing garden! The extra TLC that FAVE members will give to the garden will allow it to become a hands-on outdoor classroom for students! There is also an additional opportunity on site to assemble garden kits that will be donated to students.
MISSION:
For Earth Day 2023, FAVE and L.A. Works is on a mission to amplify environmental justice initiatives and educate youth about food sustainability.
IMPACT:
Your volunteer efforts will restore green spaces throughout the school campus, benefiting students, pollinators, and the larger community. Thanks to your work, students will grow into great environmental stewards for their community, while learning about the importance of biodiversity and food security systems.
VOLUNTEER ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
You will plant native or drought-tolerant plants, remove weeds, build planter boxes or benches, and build/maintain hugelkutur berms. No experience necessary!
REQUIREMENTS:

Must be comfortable with hands-on physical work (i.e. cleaning, pulling weeds, shoveling, and planting). Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. Is a bonus, but not required.

Attire: Wear closed-toe shoes, a hat, long pants, and long-sleeve shirts. Gloves and tools will be provided (bring your own gloves if preferred).
